Bhagini Nivedita Pratishthan expands horizon of women’s education
Bhagini Nivedita Pratishthan, Pune, women’s education, Helper NurseEducation of women was the challenge before nation a few decades ago. But today, the sphere of this challenge has widened further. Along with the education, today’s woman also needs to be trained in the fields of information technology, health, cosmetics, etc in order to earn the bread and stand on her own feet. With a vision that the Indian women of 21st century should run with time, Bhagini Nivedita Pratishthan (BNP) in Maharashtra’s Pune region has initiated various programmes for the upliftment of women belonging to the underprivileged and economically backward sections of society.
Till now, over 8,500 such women have availed the benefit of these programmes and have earned a respectable position in the society for being educated. The institution is an ideal example of women working hand to hand for the development of the nation. This has certainly brought an awakening in the society for women empowerment.
Computer education: In order to train women in the field of information technology, computer training courses have been started. Women can contribute a lot in this field if trained properly and computer literacy also raises their social status. These courses are conducted at Pune and Dighi centres to educate students, senior citizens and housewives.

These courses are conducted for teachers as well. Career in fashion making, as it has a wide scope for creativity, is a better alternative of self support as compared to traditional methods. The organization runs courses in fashion designing, computer aided textile designing and hand embroidery since 1998. Recently, BNP has ventured into the training of Hand and Computerized Machine Embroidery to girl students, housewives, hobbyists etc. The aim of such training is to enhance income generation capability of the potential creative workers.
Special drive for class 10 failed girls: It has been observed that girls failed in class 10 could not continue their studies further, because of the non-availability of proper place for study, family and financial difficulties and tendency of the parents for early marriage. To help these externally appearing class 10 girls, free educational activity has been arranged with expert guidance to complete their education for SSC Board examination. If needed, free residence facility is also provided to the needy girls. BNP believes that women should always enrich themselves in order to face the challenges of new world and to gain confidence. The institution always encourages any attempt by women of career advancement and research at all levels.
