Control Your Blood Sugar Levels With These Home Remedies
Home Remedies To Control Blood Sugar Levels
|
Diabetes
is one of the leading concerns among health professionals today as more
and more individuals fall prey to this life-long and dangerous disease.
Diabetes is caused when the blood sugar levels rise to an excess and a
resistance to insulin results. Once this happens, the diabetic
individual can no longer control their blood sugar levels, and they can
rise and fall with serious consequences. Yet whether you are diabetic or
know someone diabetic or not, it is important to implement measures to
control blood sugar levels and to stop the spread of the diabetes in its
tracks.
|
1. Consume More Dairy Products
The protein
and fat in dairy products helps improve blood sugar levels, and if the
products are low in fat, it has been shown that they can also decreased
the chances for developing insulin resistance.
2. Choose the Right Kind of Bread
Avoid white
flour based products at all costs! These simple carbohydrates are full
of sugar that spike up your blood sugar. Instead, you should consume
whole wheat or rye products that are high in fiber, protein and complex
carbohydrates which control blood sugar levels and keep you full
longer.
3. Maximize the Magnesium
Magnesium is a mineral known to help
prevent the onset of Type II diabetes and should be consumed as much as
possible. It is best to consume natural sources of magnesium such as
spinach, fish, nuts, leafy greens and avocados. All of these foods have
been proved to lower the risk of diabetes and can even aid in
weightless.
4. Cardamom is great!
Cardamom originates in the ginger family of
spices and comes from Asia as well as South America. The spice is known
to regulate Type II diabetes and can be sprinkled on coffee, tea,
yogurt and even cereal. The spice is known to help decrease blood
glucose levels by eighteen to thirty percent.
5. Buckwheat
Buckwheat
is an excellent source of fiber that you may never have heard of. It
also does wonders for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Buckwheat
comes in the form of soba noodles, which are a delicious substitute for
rice or pasta as well as in a number of powders that can be added to
baked goods or even on top of a slice of (whole wheat) bread.
6. Drink in Moderation
Alcohol contains huge amounts of sugar, and
anyone trying to watch out for their blood sugar should definitely
moderate the amount of alcohol they consume. It is best to occasionally
drink wine with dinner, and not after dinner when the same glass of wine
could alter insulin levels in the blood.
7. Watch Fat Intake
It is important to watch the amount of
saturated fats entering the body because these can seriously increase
the chances of contracting diabetes. Saturated fats are usually in fried
and junk foods as they are cooked in unhealthy oils.
8. Exercise Daily
Getting in exercise each day is critical to maintaining normal blood sugar levels, even if it's a brisk walk in the park.
9. Laughing
Yes,
this is really one of the tips that will prevent your chances for
diabetes. It was found that those who laugh have lower blood sugar
levels than those who don't laugh enough (this means you should keep
reading our jokes!).
10. Eat Grapefruit
Grapefruit has been proved to aid in weight loss as it affects the glucose metabolism, keeping insulin levels steady.
11. Do Resistance Training
Building
muscle mass is important for burning more glucose out of your system
and training once to twice a week could significantly aid in preventing
the occurrence of diabetes.
12. Drink Decaf, Not Regular
Decaffeinated
coffee slows down the rate at which the intestines absorb sugars and
speeds up the absorption of sugar by the muscles.
13. Eat Smaller Meals
It is best to have a small meal every half
hour and then another small meal (or a second half of the regular size
meal) later on. In the same vein, it is also important to eat regularly
so that insulin levels don't spike.
14. Get Enough Sleep
Sleep deprivation can affect blood sugar
and insulin levels so it is important to get enough sleep each night. It
is also essential to stop snoring because according to some studies,
those who snore are more likely to develop diabetes (because snoring is
often tied to being overweight).
15. Learn Relaxation
Listen to soothing music or read an
interesting book, whatever you need to do to relax. Meditation and yoga
can also help if they are done properly and on a regular basis.

Health Tips: 10 Remedies for Treating an Infected Tooth
Health Tips: 10 Remedies for Treating
an Infected Tooth
An
infected tooth can be one of the most painful infections we may deal
with in our day to day lives. Tooth infections are usually caused by
bacteria multiplying within the tooth and secreting waste materials,
which to us are toxins, and the accumulation of pus in abscesses formed
in the tooth.
There
are several different symptoms associated with an infected tooth, but
luckily there are several effective home remedies one can use to relieve
the pain associated with this condition.
Causes of Tooth Infection
Tooth abscess (when there is a hollow space within the tooth) is usually related to tooth decay, which can occur from:
1. Trauma to the tooth - A broken or chipped tooth, if not handled correctly, might get infected and develop an abscess.
2.
Openings left in the enamel of the tooth may allow entry for harmful
bacteria which will spread and infect the center of the tooth.
3.
Infection might begin with the root of the tooth or even the jaw bones,
and spread to the inside of the tooth through the nerve of the root.
4.
If pus is accumulated within the tooth, there could be a swelling of
the inner tooth tissue, which will definitely cause infection.

Common Symptoms:
There
are several symptoms associated with a tooth infection, no matter the
cause, though, an infected tooth can be extremely painful to bear:
1. A bitter taste in the mouth even after brushing (these are bacteria toxins).
2. Pain that might seem to be coming from a few places on the face or even the temples.
3. Breath might become foul.
4. In certain cases, when left untreated, the infection may cause a fever.
5. Sensitivity to all kinds of pain.
6. Teeth are sensitive to heat or cold.
7. The gums may swell and change color.
8. The jaw may swell as well.

10 Home Remedies to Treat the Infection:
First
of all, an infected tooth should be seen by a dentist. However, if you
find yourself unable to reach one soon, or have to wait for your
appointment, here's what you can do at home:
1. Avoiding heat
Bacteria
love heat. It gives them the perfect conditions they need to multiply.
So whatever you do, avoid hot beverages and hot food, and let it cool
off to room temperature before consuming.
2. Use Ice
If
the infection is spreading to your jaw and gums, and they begin to
swell, you can use an ice pack to reduce the swelling. Place the ice
pack on the cheek above the infected area. The cold will numb the pain
and reduce the swelling.
3. Gargling.
Take
one glass of clean, room temperature water, and add a spoon or 2 of
regular table salt. Mix well so the salt doesn't lie on the bottom of
the glass. Now gargle this solution several times a day. The salt will
dry out the bacteria, and act as a mild antiseptic. The pain will also
be reduced.
4. Peroxide Solution
Peroxide
is great at treating tooth infection as an antiseptic. Use a solution
to rinse the mouth frequently. You can also mix it with salt to better
deal with the infection.
5. Alcohol
As
a known antiseptic, alcohol too can help. Take a swig of whiskey or
another drink with a high alcohol %, and swirl it in your mouth. You
don't have to actually drink it, just holding it in your mouth will help
fight the infection and reduce inflammation.
6. Use the extracts of common kitchen ingredients
The following extracts will help mitigate the inflammation:
- Vanilla extract
- Peppermint extract
- Lemon / almond extract
Use a swab of cotton to gently smear these on the infected area.
7. Oregano Oil
The oil extracted from oregano can do wonders for your infected tooth or gum.
Simply add a few drops of olive oil to a cotton swab, add a few drops of oregano oil and apply to the infected area.
8. Apple Cider Vinegar
You may already know this one, because apple cider vinegar is known to work magic on infections.
Use a cotton ball and soak it in apple cider vinegar. Hold it against the infected area.
9. Ginger
Use a fresh piece of ginger and chew on it. The juices released will give you relief from the pain of the inflammation.
10. Fresh potato mash
Take
a fresh, raw potato. Skin it and cut it to slices. Take the slices and
pound them. Add salt to the mash. Now place the mash against the
infected area for relief.

Multi benefits of Kapaal Bhaati [Tummy excercise]
Dear Every body,
Kapaal means face and
head and Bhaati means "Glow". THIS EXCERCISE done over empty stomach
or 5 hours after meals, BRINGS NATURAL GLOW ON THE FACE OBVIATING THE USE OF
CANCER CAUSING "Cancer Causing" COSMETICS.
According to the
world renowned Yoga Guru Baba Rmdevji's daily telecasts on Zee TV and Aastha
TV, this excercise of backward and forward tummy strokes while keeping the back
and neck erect, brings about the following benefits harmlessly and "Cost
free".
1. It reduces the
weight of over-weight people by one gram with each stroke and incerases the
weight of "under-weight" people by one gram per stroke.
2.It improves
digestive function of the stomach resulting in increased absorbtion of
nuitrients[ in the foods eaten] by the body's blood stream.
3. It dislodges any
thing sticking to the inside walls of the intestines and pushing these and
other waste products of the meals for quick exit out of the body.
4.It reactivates the
function of pancreas to produce natural insulin thus reducing the dependance on
harmful allopathic medicines being taken by those suffering from diabetese.
5.It shrinks the size
of enlarged prostate thus reducing the sleep disturbing knightly visits to the
toilet and giving protection against prostate cancer. I HAVE MYSELF BENEFITED
IN THIS REGARD. I was, ten years ago, advised biopsy for prostate cancer.I
refused to undergo the same fearing spread of cancer cells to other parts of
the body and started doing Kapaal Bhaati regularly AND AM NOW FREE OF ALL MY
PROSTATE SYMPTOMS.
6 Those who say they
are very busy and do not find time for rexcercise, I would say, where there is
will, there is a way. FINDING 5 MINUTES OUT OF TWENTY FOUR HOURS TO DO KAPAAL
BHAATI SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. HEALTH IS WEALTH. YOU WILL BE ABLE EARN ONLY IF
YOU CONTINUE TO KEEP FIT AND ENJOY THE EARNINGS IN A STATE OF FITNESS.
7. Falling sick means
losing the wages for the period of sickness and be saddled with expenses on
doctor's bills and on medicines.
Pass this on to
others and near and dear ones.

Baala Kaanda - Sarga 19
In the previous Sarga, Viswaamitra arrived in Dasaratha's court and was received with great honor.
In this Sarga, the Rishi Viswaamitra asks king Dasaratha to send his son Raama along with him to protect his Yagnya from the Raakshasas.
This is one of the most concise Sargas in Raamayana. It requires no modifications, before it can be turned into a lesson on 'Proposal Making' for executives, diplomats and sales persons or before it is offered as part a curriculum in an MBA course.

Hearing those nice, elaborate and acquiescing words
of the lion among kings (Dasaratha), the supremely radiant Muni had goose bumps and said:

There is no wonder you spoke thus, and nothing different,
considering the great lineage that you are born into and considering the able guidance you get from Vasishtha!

O bull among men! I am following
certain discipline and rigor in the pursuit of certain objectives. But two Raakshasas, that can take any form at will, are causing obstructions.

mārīcaṡca subāhuṡca vīryavantau suṡikṣitau ॥ samāṃsarudhiraughēṇa vēdiṃ tāmabhyavarṣatām ।
As I was drawing to a close of that Vrata,
the two powerful and well trained Raakshasas by names Maareecha and Subaahu have poured blood and dumped meat on the altar. |
Aswamedha Yagnya, performed by kings involves animal sacrifice. Whereas, any presence of blood or meat, is considered sacrilegious in the case of Yagnyas done by Munis.
It is my conjecture, that
1. Yagnyas done for the sake of material gains (such as by kings) may involve animal sacrifice and pomp and are performed in the middle of huge number of attendees.
2. But, Yagnyas done for the sake of gaining spiritual energies (such as by Munis) are done in an ascetic manner and in the midst of the quiet and serene Vanas.

Having my discipline, determination and effort thus spoiled,
I felt de-motivated and abandoned it and came away.

I could not even get angry at them,
because I was quieted down by the stipulations of the Vrata. Further, I could not even curse them because I am in the middle of the Yagnya.

Please be assured that I will bring
multitudes of such great things upon him that his fame would reach the far corners of all the three worlds. |
These nine slokas (10b-19a) lay out a 9-point template for successful 'proposal making'.
Viswaamitra wants Dasaratha to send Raama along with him. This may sound like a simple request. But, if you read through these 9 slokas carefully, you will see it as a well crafted and well delivered proposal.
This 9 point template for 'proposal making' is very illustrative and can be used by you in any situation.
For example, let us say, you want to request your friend to invest more than half of his retirement savings in your business. (You are like Viswaamitra, your friend is like Dasaratha. The 'retirement savings' are like Raama).
How do you make your friend part with his 'retirement savings'?
Follow the 9 points below, as laid out in each of these 9 slokas:
1. Speak about the returns on investment. (What 'is in it' for your friend?)
2. Explain how uniquely your friend is positioned for the opportunity and that there is no risk. (Boost the ego of your friend, and trivialize the risk).
3. Explain that the timing is perfect and everything is falling in place. (Draw attention to the 'timing', and again trivialize the risk).
4. Calm down the knee-jerk apprehensions. ("Don't let small things come in your way. Trust me, everything is well thought out").
5. Deflect the focus away from yourself and put yourself in good company. ("It is not just me, other eminent people also agree with me").
6. Shift the focus to him and away from you. ("It is in your long term interest, that you should do this" ).
7. Deflect the burden of decision making from him to his trusted advisors. ("Check with your confidants").
8. Give the specifics only after you raised certain comfort level and say some feel-good words. (Such as: 'of course, it is your hard-earned money').
9. Mention about the urgency ('offer is void if not acted upon in a certain time')and turn yourself into a counselor, from being a requester.

For the duration of the ten nights of the Yagnya,
please send your dearest, shiny lotus eyed Raama, without delay.
| 1.19.18b-19a |

Please act in time for my Yagnya. Everything will be alright and you shouldn't have anything to worry.

Dharma = legitimate, fair and reasonable. Artha = Purpose.
