பசுக்களையும், இயற்கையையும், கிராமிய வாழ்வையும் முன்னிறுத்தியத்தில் ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணரை போன்ற பெருந்தெய்வமில்லை.

கோ-சேவையின் மகத்துவத்தால் சாமானிய யாதவ சிறுவன் ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ணன் பாரத்தத்தின் 56 தேசங்களைகளையும் கட்டுப்படுத்தும் சூத்திரதாரியாக உயர்ந்தார் என்பதும் அவரின் வரலாறு (கதை/புராணம் அல்ல) மகாபாரதத்தின் பெரும் பகுதியாக உள்ளது என்பது பல அறிஞர்களின் கருத்து. இன்று துவாரகையில் கிருஷ்ணர் ஆட்சி செய்த இடங்களையும் அதற்கான சான்றுகளையும கொண்டு தொல்பொருள் ஆய்வுகளை நடத்தி நவீன அறிவியல் மூலமும் இதை நிறுவி வருகின்றனர்.
