vandemataram foundation Mahaboobnagar to Meridian - Varadhi 2013

Around 203 students along with 20 VMF volunteers from 13 Schools of Mahaboobnagar district participated in Varadhi programme (Rural-Urban Cultural Exchange Programme) at
Meridian High School, Banjara Hills from August 08 to 11, 2013.

These students are from Zilla Parishad High Schools from six Mandals of Mahaboobnagar District. These Students arrived on August 08, 2013 at 4.30pm and the inaugural programme commenced at 6pm. Smt. Usha Reddy, Principal Meridian School extended a warm welcome to these students, volunteers, and VMF staff. Students visited RamaKrishna Math and met Swamiji Bhodamayanandha Maharaj who motivated students with his commendable speech.

The very purpose of this exchange programme was to equip these rural students with essential study skills, special English course, Mathematical and Analytical Skills and Mind Mapping.


According students of 8th and 9th were divided into groups (two groups per class).

The four day stay routine is as follows:

Day commenced with Yoga at 5 a.m. followed by games. After freshening up and breakfast, classes commenced from 9 am till 5pm with lunch and tea breaks in between. Meridian Staff and teachers have undergone training in teaching in Telugu and make it easy to understand for government school students.

As part of sightseeing, on August 09, 2013 these students visited Birla Planetarium. 

On August 10, 2013 they visited Bapu Ghat.

Apart from this, in the evenings cultural programme was organized to give ample platform to the government school students to exhibit their talents. Many students took this opportunity and sang wonderful songs with moral behind, shared their experiences and also entertained all with funny bones.

Motivational Classes by Venu Bhagavan Garu (Author, Keynote Speaker, Educator, and Corporate Trainer) & Smt.Geetha Challa Garu (Personality development Trainer, Counselor,
Gerontologist, Social worker, early childhood education specialist, Writer, Artist) on August 10, 2013.

August 11, 2013, at 2 pm the government school students bid adieu to Meridian School students, teachers and Staff.

The Vandemataram foundation is indeed greatly indebted to Meridian staff and teachers for taking all the pains in teaching these Telugu medium students in Telugu.

Also, indebted to Smt. Usha Reddy Principal Meridian School for making all the logistic arrangements and hospitality.
