Annaji Kulkarni Wachanalaya, Bhandara
Excellence in competitive examinations is a daydream for the
underprivileged children who do not have enough educational infrastructure to
their hand. Further, such youths also do not have a favourable atmosphere at
their homes to concentrate upon studies. Late Annaji Kulkarni Sarvjanik
Wachanalaya at Maharashtra’s Bhandara town has served as a boon for such
aspirants as it provides a variety of competitive exam-based books at a single
place so that the students can utilize this ladder to climb the mountain of
success. Also, youths who do not have a proper provision for studies at their
homes stay at the library itself for the preparation.
In order to acquaint people with the work done by late Annaji Kulkarni for catalyzing the expansion of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh so as to develop a source of inspiration for young karyakartas, a thought came forward to establish an inspirational project in Bhandara district and it took shape in the form of this library. This project is run by Samaj Jagruti Pratishthan, the foundation for which was laid on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, in the year 2010. The project that is run at Annaji Seva Sadan has yielded a remarkable success within a period of less than one year of its execution. Although the basic objective behind this is to remember the commendable work done by Annaji, efforts are also being made to associate the younger generation with this noble work. Currently, 600 books are available with the library that covers various subjects in addition to the RSS literature.
Considering the present requirement of the youths, a variety of books related to competitive exams have been arranged by the library. About 40 youths daily come to the library and thoroughly study these books. Some of the youths go home after finishing their studies but the youths who do not have a provision for studies at their homes stay in the library itself. It is important to note that 10 such youths are residing in the library premises at present to prepare themselves for competitive exams.
The library that is open 24x7 for aspiring youths has created a studious atmosphere in the region. In addition to the youths, a number of elderly people also visit the library for reading various types of books. This noble work of enlightening the lives of people through the medium of books has gained momentum within a short period of time.
The involvement of youths is increasing day by day and this indeed is the success of this seva work. This project, initiated in the name of Annaji Kulkarni who devoted his entire life for the work of RSS, has set an ideal for seva. However, in order to expand the sphere of this movement, there is a need for books with good content and people who will donate such books.
At present, the responsibility of the library is being shouldered by Prakash Khokle as the president and Swapnil Yeole as the secretary. Their efforts for enhancing the quality and quantity of books are indeed laudable. Therefore, supporting this ‘Govardhan’ that is lifted by the duo becomes necessary for the responsible people from the society.
