$img_title
Pune’s Chaitanya Mahila Mandal has triggered a passion to help live a respectable life among women who want to take an extreme step of ending their lives that are full of hardships. Inculcating a human attitude towards woman among the society is the prime objective of the mandal.

The foundation for Chaitanya Mahila Mandal was laid. In Bhosri region near Pune, various activities were initiated for the welfare of women and children who have been put in distress by different forces of the society. Chaitanya Mahila Mandal discovered the solution to this problem and thus evolved the concept of ‘Aashray’, a temporary residential home where such women not only get shelter but efforts are also made to earn a respectable position for them in the society.

Admission is given to each and every woman only after a detailed interview. As she has gone through much bitter phases in her life, psychological treatment is provided. A complete care is also taken as far as her health is concerned. Every woman is treated equally without any discrimination and with due love and affection. Nutritious diet is given for gaining health.

For illiterate women, literacy programmes are organized. Along with the formal education, vocational training is also given so that when they leave the mandal, they can face various social and economic problems with an equal vigor, Entertainment and cultural programmes are also organized along with the education to relieve them from the stress from their past life.

The period of stay at Aashray is up to three years. Preference is given to the women belonging to the age group of 15 to 35. If some woman has a baby along with her, then the kid is allowed to stay up to the age of seven. They get the security and warmth that is required for them in the family.

The mandal also intervenes in  cases where the  feasible solution towards the problem is possible. Kutumb Sakhi Counseling Centre strives hard to avoid the permanent break up. For this, legal assistance is also taken.
