WHO IS GOING TO BELL THE CAT WITH REGARD TO MADURAI KAMARAJ UNIVERSITY?
Dear Friends,
Today's newspapers (given below) carry the story on the dismissal
of Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala
because the VC A.V.George had misrepresented about his qualification and
experience in the Bio-data submitted to the Search Committee in 2013. It is a prompt decision by the Governor of Kerala.
But, in Tamil Nadu,
Dr.Kalyani Mathivanan who was appointed Vice Chancellor of Madurai
Kamaraj University in April 2012 had also misrepresented about her
qualification while submitting her Bio-data to the Search Committee. She
was only an Associate Professor of English in Ethiraj College, but she
submitted that she was a Professor. As per UGC norms,
Vice-Chancelloe adistinguished academician, with a minimum of ten years
of experience as Professor in a University system or ten years of
experience in an equivalent position in a reputed research and / or
academic administrative organisation. Clearly, Dr.Kalyani
Mathivanan was not qualified. Representation to the Governor did not
help. Despite knowing this fact, the Governor of Tamil Nadu Thiru
K.Rosaih has not acted. So, Dr.Kalyani continues
to be the VC for the past 2 years despite (a) not qualified for the job
and (b) misrepresenting of this fact, which is far more serious. So, MKU which had built up a reputation for research in various branches of Science is fast losing its reputation. WHO IS GOING TO BELL THE CAT WITH REGARD TO MADURAI KAMARAJ UNIVERSITY?

Governor expels MG University VC for wrong claim in bio-data
Thiruvananthapuram:
In an unprecedented move, Kerala Governor Sheila Dikshit expelled Dr A.
V. George, Vice-Chancellor of Kottayam-based MG University on Monday.
Based on a government report, Dikshit in her capacity as the Chancellor signed the order removing Dr George, Raj Bhavan sources said. A copy of the order would be submitted in the court. The move comes following the alleged misrepresentation in the bio-data submitted by George for the VC's post.
This is the first time in the history of Kerala that the Vice-Chancellor of a university is being removed in before the expiry of the term.
The State Government had earlier forwarded the report of the Higher Education Secretary, who was asked to examine the complaint.
George had sought a meeting with Dikshit on Monday morning, but his request was turned down. Earlier in the day, he had also had met the Chief Minister.
Coming out of the Raj Bhavan, Dr George refused to comment on his expulsion to the mediapersons. The VC told them that he would meet governor later in the day.
Dr George, who was the head of Geology Department of Christ College in Irinjalakuda, was appointed the vice-chancellor of MG varsity in January, 2013. The biodata submitted by George said he had served as the head of department in a Central University. But, the relieving order he submitted along with the biodata was issued from Christ College. It was also found that he had worked only on deputation at the Central University of Kerala at Kasargode.
Citing this, Kaviyoor panchayat president T K Sajeev had petitioned former governor Nikhil Kumar questioning George's eligibility to hold the post in the wake of presenting an erroneous bio-data. The governor, who is also the chancellor, had conducted a hearing, but he quit the post before arriving at a decision on the matter.
In the meanwhile, the VC had filed a case in the High Court and the court left the matter at governor's discretion. The VC further approached the Supreme Court against the order, but failed to get a verdict in his favour. Against this background, the governor ousted him on Monday.
