“Dhanvantari
Seva Yatra” unique programme of doctors from other parts of the country
visiting north eastern states and conducting free medical camps where the
medical facilities are lacking in these hilly areas.
In
2005, 8 doctors from Banaras Hindu University started this with a week’s
programme of medical camps in these hilly terrains. Since then every year
consistently this programme is being carried out with lot of enthusiasm by the
doctors, and conducted by Seva Bharati, Purbanchal, Guwahati.
This
year 38 doctors along with 55 medical students
and 29 local doctors & medical students conducted free medical camps
in 21 places in Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal, Meghalaya,
Assam where total beneficiaries were 23986 including 10850 women 5399 children.
To
mark the International Yoga Day, Seva Bharati, Purbanchal conducted classes in
the north eastern states in 67 places with total participants of 8311.
In
addition, Seva Bharati has taken up “Arogya Mitra” projects for last several years
and more than 5500 Arogya Mitras are taking care of that many villages is north
eastern states as far as health is concerned.
