Namaskar,
Sub: Jalvardhini Prathisthan the subject has been doing wonderful work of storage of water facilities in the drought hit areas in Maharashtra which is really appreciable. Kindly go through & see whether we can adopt this type of facilities in our areas, if need be.
DROUGHT SITUATION IN MARATHWADA IS ALARMING.JALVARDHINI PRATISHTHAN HAVE DECIDED TO CREATE STORAGE FACILITY AT VARIOUS VILLAGES IN MARATHWADA WITH THE HELP OF VILLAGERS AND LOCAL NGO
JALVARDHINI PRATISHTHAN THINKS THAT AS THERE IS NO STORAGE CAPACITY AVAILABLE AT VILLAGE LEVEL, THERE IS A PROBLEM OF WATER AFTER MONSOON.
I had visited village Waghalkheda & Dahigavhan in Dist Jalana on 4th March 2013.
During visit at village Waghalkheda , villagers informed that Rainfall this year was only 330mm in 7 days only
I inquired then, out of seven days how many days were there, when sufficient water flown from their farm?They informed me that on two occasions there was heavy or sufficient Runoff from their farm and village.
Here I asked them, why they did not store water from those two events?
Similar is the case of village Dahigavhan, here also there is no arrangement to store Rain Water which can be used after Monsoon.
At DAHIGAVHAN WE DID MUHURAT OF EXCAVATION of Geo membrane lined Tank of about 30,000 liters.
and ABOUT 24,000 LITER CAPACITY TANK IS COMPLETED.See attached photo.
On 5th march along with Sar Vyavasthapak ( Managing Director) of Bhagyalakshmi Mahila Bank, Nanded; went to village Ghogarewadi in Dist Nanded;
where also we observed that there is no storage arrangement to store Rain Water or Water.
Here also we did muhurta of Geo Membrane lined Tank of 30, 000 liters and a pond is to be developed behind a bandhara.
All this work will be COMPLETED WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF VILLAGERS and Prof U. D. Kulkarni who is a Professor at Water Resources & Management Institute at SGGS, NANDED and JANKALYAN SAMITI------ MARATHAWADA.
JALVARDHINI PRATISHTHAN WILL ARRANGE MATERIAL REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF STORAGE FACILITY.
