Following a news report that appeared in
Mahthrubhumi daily on July 14, 2016, of a family of four leading a life in a
dilapidated shack under the overbridge in Kozhikode, help poured in from all
quarters.
Ambili and her three children lived in a
shack just behind the Puthiyappa petrol pump, very nearto the sea.
All that they have as a home is a run-down structure covered with clothes and
plastic sheets on a paved floor in the midst of a swamp.
A family which refuses to
give up.
Under the supervision of Seva Bharathi,
Ambili and her children were shifted to a temporary shelter in a rented place
on the same day. They keys of the rented house were handed over to Ambili in
the evening on the same day. Seva Bharathi District General Secretary, M.C.
Shajikumar said they were ready to build a house in the place belonging
to Ambili. Sevabharathi activists also provided the family with household
items.
Malaparamba Devans Supermarket MD,
Shri Mogavur Ponnadi, offered the family one month’s provisions. They also
informed that a small sum for the children’s education would be given eve3ry
month to the family. The santhwanam Charitable Trust along with Mukkam KMCTU
also offered assistance to the children. Many persons who did not wish to be
identified reached Ambili”s shack to lend a helping hand to the poor
family. Any help, however, small was accepted by Ambili and her children.
