Sewa Bharathi, Kerala - Help Pouring in for Ambili and her children

Following a news report that appeared in Mahthrubhumi daily on July 14, 2016, of a family of four leading a life in a dilapidated shack under the overbridge in Kozhikode, help poured in from all quarters.

Ambili and her three children lived in a shack just behind the Puthiyappa petrol pump, very nearto the sea.   All that they have as a home is a run-down structure covered with clothes and plastic sheets on a paved floor in the midst of a swamp.

A family which refuses to give up.

Under the supervision of Seva Bharathi, Ambili and her children were shifted to a temporary shelter in a rented place on the same day. They keys of the rented house were handed over to Ambili in the evening on the same day. Seva Bharathi District General Secretary, M.C. Shajikumar said they were ready to build a house in the place belonging  to Ambili. Sevabharathi activists also provided the family with household items.

Malaparamba Devans Supermarket MD, Shri Mogavur Ponnadi, offered the family one month’s provisions. They also informed that a small sum for the children’s education would be given eve3ry month to the family. The santhwanam Charitable Trust along with Mukkam KMCTU also offered assistance to the children. Many persons who did not wish to be identified reached Ambili”s shack to lend a helping hand to the poor family.  Any help, however, small was accepted by Ambili and her children.
