Dear Friend,
In this country the history taught in the schools and collages is incomplete. It starts and ends with Gandhi and Nehru. Even there is no mention of martyrs other than Bhagatsing, Rajguru and Sukhdev and few more. No doubt they deserve it but there are other who also deserve mention.
There are many from North east India such as Kanaklata Devi, Hepau Jadonang, Thogan Sangma, Veer Tikendrajeet and many more. These greats who laid their life for our country are just neglected like the region they belong to. Sad state of affairs indeed.
When the government neglects the NGOs thrust upon themselves this important task. My Home India, a Voluntary organisation working for creating awareness about North East in the rest of India, has organised a programme to remember and pay respect to an unknown martyr from Meghalaya 'U Kiang Nangbah'. He was hanged by the British on the streets of Jowai on 30th December, 1862.
The programme will be held at 4.30 pm at Deputy Speaker Hall, Constitution Club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi. You are cordially invited. Please forward this mail and attend the function in heavy numbers to pay respect to one of the most neglected son of this country.
I have attached the invitation herewith.
Requesting again to attend the programme !
Thanks and Regards,
Vivek Pachauri
